Overdue Fines
Overdue fines are 25 cents per calendar day per book to a maximum fine of $50.00. There is a 7 day grace period during which no fines are charged for books; on the eighth day the fine is $1.75. Borrowing privileges are suspended when books become overdue or when overdue fines for returned books exceed $5.00. As of January 27, 2014, all CUNY faculty are subject to fines for overdue library materials.
Students with a current, validated Newmark Graduate School of Journalism ID card may borrow up to 5 books for 42 days (6 weeks). Faculty with a current, validated Graduate School of Journalism ID card may borrow up to 5 books for 56 days (8 weeks). On a case-by-case basis certain items will be loaned to faculty on a semester basis.

Overdue reserve material incur a cost of $5.00 per hour.
From time to time the library may recall an item that has been renewed past the initial 3-week loan period. If the item is not returned by the patron on the date specified, the patron will incur a fine of a $1.00 per day.
Lost books will incur replacement charges of the cost of the item and a $25 processing fee.

Undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff from other CUNY campuses may borrow up to 5 books from the J-School library (14 day loan period). We do not lend out multimedia and reserve materials to other CUNY campuses.
We allow access to current CUNY Students, faculty and staff. Valid CUNY ID and Cleared4 needed to enter. Masks are required. Current CUNY Students, faculty and staff are only permitted to use the Research Center. Certain resources are only for the J-School community.
Our circulating collection is open to the current CUNY community.
