Research Center Services: Virtual Access to the Research Center

This guide will help you better navigate through all of the resources that we have to offer!

Navigating the Research Center Virtually

First and foremost, hoping that everyone is keeping safe and healthy during this time. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, The Research Center will be closed until further notice.

For updates on the J-School's response, check out the following: https://www.journalism.cuny.edu/covid-19-guidance/

The Research Center will maintain virtual research services. Please read below for information on access, and check out our Research Services FAQ for further information.

If you have any further questions/concerns, please email research@journalism.cuny.edu.

Databases and Journals

As always, our databases and journals are available with your barcode (the 14-digit number on the back of your J-School ID). If you do not have a barcode, or your barcode is not working, please email research@journalism.cuny.edu for assistance. Please also report any access issues (i.e, broken links, restricted access messages, etc) to research@journalism.cuny.edu as well

Both of these links are available on the Research Center's homepage:

Virtual Research Assistance

Please look at our Research Guides

If you require research assistance (i.e. Accurint reports, PACER access, questions about your reporting, etc), please schedule an appointment using the bit.ly/researchdrs - if you do not see any appointments, or you can't make those appointment times, please email research@journalism.cuny.edu to arrange a date and time for assistance.

Physical Collection - Fines/Renewals

As of March 13, all overdue fines will be waived.
All existing loans will automatically be renewed.
As of March 16, there will be no loans from our physical collection.
This includes ILL (interlibrary loan requests) and reserves until further notice. Most reserve items are available on our e-reserve pages.

We encourage the use of our e-book collections below, please use your 14 digit barcode, to access these resources as well:

Bloomberg Terminal Access

We encourage students to avoid/minimize their usage of the Bloomberg Terminal, unless absolutely necessary, and information cannot be found elsewhere.

We ask that you make a 30 min appointment via the Bloomberg Access Calendar below: bit.ly/newmarkjbloombergappts

The terminal will only be accessible from 10-4pm, Monday-Friday. This is only for the J-School community.
Please disinfect the terminal before and after use with alcohol wipes that will be near the terminal, and limit to one person in the Research Center at a time. Public Safety will allow access to the terminal only if you have made an appointment.
