Choose your search terms:
Lexis reads words next to each other as a phrase: so herald towers reads as “herald towers”
AND is the most important connecting word you must use in any pay database. To do a simple search, just separate words and phrases with an and – for example: MTA and accessibility
You can choose a date range otherwise the default is “all dates” searched.
Your default Sources searched are “all news sources.” If you want a specific publication, type the name into the Publication box.
hlead(adams and operation padlock) - searches headline/lead paragraph
byline(helina selemon) - this searches author name
! - replaces an infinite number of letters, ex.: legis! = legislate, legislator, legislation, etc.
w/# - locate terms within a certain number of words near each another
OR ben brafman w/10 (lawyer or attorney) - searches for lawyer or attorney within 5 words of brafman
atleast4(adams) - searches for at least 4 (can be any #) mentions of a word, good for profile searches
length(>900) searches for articles greater than 900 words in length - also good for profiles and long-form searches.
