Video tutorial: How to access census data about a neighborhood
Uses an example from Boston to show how to create a neighborhood from census tracts. For New York City, some neighborhood data can be accessed at the PUMA (Public Use Microdata Area) level. For example, there is a PUMA called Brooklyn Community District 16 - Brownsville and Ocean Hill, but if you wanted a more narrow or specific neighborhood, you could use this method to build it from census tracts. For New York City the NYC Population Factfinder does something similar.
