CUNY moving to a new Library System, Alma

by Tinamarie Vella on 2020-07-02T14:01:00-04:00 in Library How-To | 0 Comments

In early August, CUNY Libraries will be moving to a new library system, Alma

There are a few service changes that will affect you, please read below:

  • During the month of July, there will be a freeze in creating and updating patron or material (print/electronic) records as we migrate to our new system. You may use our discovery search, OneSearch, but it will not be current until mid-August 2020. If you are not familiar with OneSearch, it is a tool that searches across books, e-books, articles, databases and more via one search. Some specialized databases are not indexed there, so please use our Databases A-Z List as well when researching.
  • We will be moving to a new interlibrary loan (ILL)  system, Tipasa. This means that there will be no ILL requests until September 2020.  Stay tuned for more details on ILL.
  • Our ezproxy server, which allows you to access electronic resources from off-campus will no longer be authenticated via the 14-digit barcode on the back of your J-School ID.  Your barcode will only work through July 2020. We will begin using your CUNYID to authenticate in August 2020.  More information on CUNY Login (which is already used for Blackboard, CUNYfirst, Microsoft Office 365, and more applications) here: https://www.cuny.edu/about/administration/offices/cis/cuny-login-faq/. For those who do not have a CUNYID, we will be in touch before the August 2020 date with information about your access.

If you have any questions or concerns about this, feel free to reach out via email.
